NIT is being appointed as Nagpur Metropolitan Development Authority (NMRDA). NMC will take charge of schemes within the city from NIT.
NIT will take care of Metropolitan Region area of over 3500 sq kms surrounding Nagpur city with is part of Nagpur Metro Region.
Areas of the city, MIHAN SEZ, and Municipal councils has been excluded from NIT’s jurisdiction. Areas under jurisdiction of MADC, Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Kamptee Municipal Council, Kamptee Cantonment Board, Kalmeshwar Municipal Council have been specifically excluded.
The area under NMRDA will be Nagpur Rural, Hingna, Mouda & Kamptee Tehsil, Parseoni and parts of Saoner, Kalmeshwar, Umrer and Kuhi Taluka of Nagpur District.
