Farmland can be transferred to non-farmer for N.A. use
Maharashtra legislative assembly passed a bill to remove bar on transfer of agricultural land for NA purposes and simplified procedure for purchase of agricultural land for NA use.
However, incase the non-farmer fails to utilize this land for non-agricultural purposes within 5 years, extendable by another 5 years on payment of non-utilization charges, the Collector shall resume such land and sell it first to the original land holder, or auction it if original land holder defaults to purchase it.
Transfer of such land within period of 10 years may be permitted on payment of transfer fee.
The amendments simplify procedure for purchase of agricultural land for NA use in municipal areas & new towns and areas of Regional Plans allocated to NA use.
