Waste has become an industry in Sweden

Every year Sweden imports waste and gets paid for it says Fredrika Ornbrant, Consul General of Sweden in Mumbai.

In Sweden waste has become an Industry. Only 0.70% of the waste is going to land-fill, the rest is being used for energy-conservation. We are able to decrease our oil dependency and our economy has grown by 60%.

She was speaking on the topic ‘Making our Cities Smart- The Urban Transformation & Sustainability Challenge’ at the Global Nagpur Summit.
