World’s first completely vertically integrated Gen 8.5 LCD fab & glass manufacturing facility to come up at Nagpur.

Twinstar Display Technologies, a Vedanta group company, has received approval to set up India’s first LCD manufacturing facility spread over 250 acres at additional Butibori Industrial area in Nagpur.

Presently LCD panels are imported into India. With this facility, India may become an export hub of display units.

In the first phase, to be completed in 24 months, the company will invest ₹ 14,000 crores and manufacture about 14 million panels.

Total investment proposed is ₹ 65,000 crores (about US$ 10 Billion) in 9 years.

Twinstar Display Technologies will set up India’s first and one of the world’s largest LCD fab units known as Panel FAB with investment of US$ 10 Billion in five phases and has signed MOU with Maharashtra Government.

“We will endeavour to make India a significant export hub of display units with the setting up of Panel FAB,” said Anil Agarwal, chairman, Vedanta Group.

Panel FAB production will begin by 2018, the project will provide direct and indirect employment to over 30,000 people, and contribute 7-10% to Maharashtra’s industrial GDP.

A FAB unit can only be successful if the whole ecosystem around it develops and Twinstar is confident of bringing many ancillary partners to the country and make India a leading Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (EDSM) destination,” the company said.

      As per news reports the project is expected to come up at New additional MIDC Butibori.
      Such large projects require various pre-construction activities, permissions etc which take some time.
      Further, as per market reports, people of LG were in Nagpur.
