There were opportunities in indigenization & outsourcing in manufacturing, reclamation of aircraft and aero-engine parts. The Airforce has put in public domain a list of items required by them.
Air Cmde Suresh Singh AVSM,VSM, Command Engineering Officer, HQ Maintenance Command, Nagpur speaking at the summit said that the role of aviation in the economic development of city was immense.
With local manufacturing the cost can be brought down by more than 50% compared to imports. Indian civil aviation industry is the 9th largest in the world worth US$ 16 billion and in the next 5 years the number of aircraft were bound to more than double.
In the next 10 years India will spend about US$120 billion on Defense. India has the 3rd largest pool of scientists in the world which could be utilized.
