Muktak Joshi sold Ticket Utils (among top three) to ebay

Muktak Joshi sold Ticket Utils, among the top 3 ticket selling software companies to ebay

muktak joshi

By Rishi Saraf 29-Jan-2017 :

From a young age he successfully built & sold software. His life story is one of several ups & downs. He shares useful insights.

At an early age he learnt programming, became a Microsoft Certified professional, wrote language conversion (transliteration) software called Lipik, and wrote 23 successful programs, all while studying.

Ticket Utils is among the most feature rich softwares used by program/sport event ticket reselling brokers abroad.

His advise to young entrepreneurs is:

1. Try out things, even if they go wrong.

2. Break the safety ropes that make you comfortable (Burn the bridges).

3. His father has been his mentor who gave his view and also asked Muktak to test it out. He feels that it is better not to have a mentor than to have a mentor who gives up on you quickly.

4. Don’t run after money, it will come as a byproduct (of service). If you run after money alone, you may end up doing illegal and unethical things.

5. Formal education like engineering to him was a waste of time, infact he failed in one year as his interest was in programming and he would not attend college.

6. Engage a proper lawyer for legal documentation when doing a JV or merger etc. Muktak had a sour experience in one of his earlier startups when the acquiring company took his codes and later slapped a case against him.

7. He married early at the age of 22 yrs and learnt budgeting. He & his wife would make separate envelopes for watching movies, for eating out etc. During the month if that envelope money was spent, they would postpone the expenditure till next month.

8. He feels India is still premature and it makes sense to continue to make software for companies abroad as their currency gives a better return for the same effort.

After he completes his term with ebay, his next work may be in Artificial Intelligence and IoT.

He was speaking at Vidarbha Management Association. A special thanks to Sachin Jahagirdar & Charudutt Deshpande.
